The Splendid Table Joins Vox Media Podcast Network via Partnership with American Public Media
The long-running show hosted by award-winning food writer Francis Lam will join a portfolio of like-minded brands and shows including Eater, Punch, and Gastropod
Vox Media today announced a podcast partnership with American Public Media (APM) that will bring APM’s James Beard Award-winning food show, The Splendid Table, to the Vox Media Podcast Network. Since it launched nearly three decades ago, The Splendid Table has introduced America to generations of food dignitaries. The Splendid Table will continue to air on public radio, with Vox Media contributing to promotions and assuming sales and distribution duties for the podcast version of the show as well as its The One Recipe spinoff. Both shows will take their places among a lineup of like-minded editorial brands and shows including Eater and Punch, New York Magazine’s Grub Street, Gastropod, and more.
“We’re thrilled by this partnership that expands the reach of The Splendid Table’s prestigious legacy brand to Vox Media alongside its renowned Gastropod podcast and Eater brand,” says American Public Media Group’s vice president of revenue strategy, Thomas De Napoli. “Leveraging these top-tier platforms, we aim to drive audience growth and to expand multi-channel access to trusted content and experiences loved by people from all walks of life. Innovative collaborations like this ensure The Splendid Table continues to thrive and evolve in an ever-changing media landscape.”
Hosted by award-winning food writer, Francis Lam, The Splendid Table is an original weekly companion that celebrates the intersection of food and life. The show explores different cultures, cuisines and ideas, as well as the small personal stories that come out of the expansive world of the table. The former Eat columnist for The New York Times Magazine, Lam has been a presence on The Splendid Table since 2010. In addition to hosting The Splendid Table, Lam is vice president and editor-in-chief at Clarkson Potter, a division within Penguin Random House that is a leader in cookbook publishing. He has written for publications that include Gourmet, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Lucky Peach, Saveur, Salon, Men’s Journal, and the Financial Times.
In 2022, The Splendid Table launched its spinoff show, The One Recipe. Hosted by Eater senior editor Jesse Sparks, the show features conversations with chefs and gifted cooks from all over the world about the one recipe they keep in their back pocket.
“The Splendid Table’s enduring success is a testament to the show’s consistently inquisitive and thoughtful conversations around food that have delighted audiences for decades,” says Vox Media’s executive director of the podcast business, Lillian Xu. “We’re so excited to partner with The Splendid Table to explore the many ways we can grow together, especially alongside the leading food brands and shows within the Vox Media ecosystem.”
At Vox Media, The Splendid Table will explore editorial collaborations with Eater. A top 10 podcast network according to leading industry tracker Podtrac, Vox Media is home to some of the most influential shows across categories including Gastropod (hosted by journalist Cynthia Graber and author Nicola Twilley), Today, Explained (hosted by public radio alums Sean Rameswaram and Noel King), Criminal (created by public radio alums Phoebe Judge and Lauren Spohrer), A Touch More (hosted by world champion athletes Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe), Pivot (hosted by journalist Kara Swisher and entrepreneur Scott Galloway), Decoder (hosted by The Verge’s editor-in-chief, Nilay Patel), and more.
